I Like Thursday Post # 44 ~ Happy Hearts

Today I was busy baking this
Heart Shaped Tuxedo Brownie
for the love of my life.

Mr Scrapatch picked up takeout for lunch while I baked and frosted.
Tomorrow he will be working a double shift so the yummy goodies started today.
Sometime over the weekend we will also go out to one of our favorite restaurants.

Here is my indulgent treat for today ...

Heart Shaped Brownie Recipe

Brownie:

  • 1/2 cup oil or  melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 and 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate baking chips (or chopped nuts or your favorite brownie add-in)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease and line a 8-inch heart shaped pan with waxed paper.
In large mixing bowl blend oil or melted butter, sugar and vanilla. Beat in room-temperature eggs.
Using a spoon, mix in sour cream. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
Stir dry ingredients mix into wet mix.
Bake 45 minutes, check and possibly bake 5-10 minutes more or until top is dry and center is still fudgy.
Cool for 10 – 15 minutes. remove from pan, peel off waxed paper and cool completely.

Cream Cheese Topping:
1/3 cup white chocolate chips
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup softened cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Melt butter and white chocolate chips just until they can be blended smooth.  Add cream cheese  and mix. Add vanilla and powdered sugar and beat until smooth and fluffy with electric mixer.  Add more powdered sugar, as needed. Spread over sides and top of brownie.  Press Mini Chocolate Chips on sides, if desired.

Chocolate Glaze:
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1 tablespoon milk or cream
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup powdered sugar
Mini Chocolate Chips for garnish
Melt chocolate chips and milk and butter just until smooth.  Stir in powdered sugar until smooth.  Add more powdered sugar as needed to make thin glaze that drizzles off spoon.  Drizzle over cream cheese frosting and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips.

Cut and serve and enjoy!

This is a favorite treat for my hubby and in past years I have made it with cherry pie filling on the top
Many of our favorite ways to celebrate our love are with edible indulgent treats.
but I also enjoy warming out home with my heart quilts and stitches.
