Free Pattern Fun Friday

Friday has become my day to make this week's block for the

Made & Found QAL @ Alison Glass

Free Block Designs are emailed weekly after sign-up.

There will be 36 blocks from the Andover Fabrics Designers.

This is my block story board for this week's block.

I played with the colors a little and decided to add a fourth fabric to the mix.

I have been using some white in each block for contrast.

This is one of those instruction sheets that has you drawing and sewing lines.

I just pair my squares, cut in half and chain sew.

Now I have three blocks done!

These are 9.5" unfinished blocks.

Quick and easy and an hour of sewing fun

that is using up some of my scrap and stash.

I have no idea what collection the print fabric may be from.

I bought it a few years along in a fat eight bundle from

Alison Glass for her Ventana pattern.

There is no selvage.

If you know what it is. please tell.

I am happy I decided to sew along with this one.

Today is also time to decide on whether I will sew along

on one of my favorite free quilt-along of the year.

Made & Found Free Quilt Along ~ Block 2 ~ Free Pattern Friday

Here is my Block @ for the Made & Found Quilt.

This is a free quilt along from the

For this quilt I am using my Alison Glass fabrics and solids from my stash

and Thatched Blizzard for my background fabric.

Here are my first two blocks.

This is looking like a very warm colored quilt right now.

Since this Kona Solids bundle was my starting point for this quilt,

it looks like there will be some blues and cool lavenders, too,

in the future blocks.

Time will tell.

Today was very cool and rainy and I was feeling very achy.

No hand sewing for my arthritic fingers today.

The weekend is forecast to be sunny but temperatures will be dropping again.

Winter is still very much here.

Free Pattern Friday ~ Made & Found Sew Along

I Made & Found Block One.

This was very much a spontaneous quilty happening.

I saw an announcement for this new free sew along on my IG feed

during my morning coffee break and signed up,

found some fabric, cut and sewed.

Usually I dither when I see a new sew along.

I tell myself I do not have time,

that I have too many projects in the works,

that I have too many UFOs in my closets.

Maybe I will think about fabric.

Then I will dither over fabric.

Maybe start to pull out a few fabrics,

soon to be too many choices.

Then I will maybe take a photo or two of my possible choices.

Then I will dither some more.

Then I will talk myself out of it or put it aside to haunt me awhile

before it sinks to the back of my consciousness

and to the bottom of my fabric piles around my sewing corner

and eventually gets put away when I clean up.

Not today.

Today I pulled together this fabric plan in a matter of minutes.

It did help that I have started my spring cleaning and the basket

with the Kona Solids precuts surfaced.

It did help that the Alison Glass Sunprints 2023 charm pack

was near my pressing board for some unknown reason.

It did help that when I thought ... hmmm ... background? ...

that I walked directly to a fabric storage cube, opened it

and my hand landed on this good sized cut of

Thatched Blizzard,

which every time I see it I fall in love with the bright textural tones,

and every time touch it I am in love with the thick feel of the fabric again.

It is just my most favorite bright white background fabric, ever.

It felt like quilty magic happening.

My kitty quilty helpers did not agree

because it was only a few minutes until their lunch time

and my hungry kitties do not like to wait.

Maestro expressed her displeasure to my getting ready to cut and sew

by attacking the fabric.

I promised my kitties I would be quick.

I was 37 minutes from "thinking about fabric" to "finishing the block."

But, I was 9 minutes late to feeding the hungry horde of cats

meowling around my feet and jumping on my sewing space.

Maestro expressed her displeasure by attacking the block

when I went to snap a photo.

I smoothed it out and snapped.

This is the tail ... er, tale ... of my block

and my new quilty start.

Back to regularly scheduled quilty plans for the day.

It is still cold and windy here.

Mr. Scrapatch had to clean snow off the car and steps and walk again today.

Not much, but it flurried heavily overnight.

Mr. Scrapatch has a long weekend and Monday off.

Hopefully, we will get some more spring cleaning done inside.

The yard is another matter, covered in leaves from last fall

and fallen debris from winter storms.

Major yard clean up commencing soon,

if it does not blizzard in March.

I shall be staying in this weekend and stitching

Fabulous Fabric Friday ~ Free Pattern Friday

Today I enjoyed these special Tilda Fabrics from my stash:

Windy Day ... have only charm pack and one fat quarter,

Gardenlife ... charm pack ( do I really not have more?),

Cotton Beach ... two small fat quarter bundles, charm pack and two half yards,

Maple Farm ... small fat quarter bundle and three one-yard prints.

I have never cut into these fabrics before but today I snipped

a few small pieces of these treasures

to add some Maple Farm to my 2024 Temperature Quilt

This little tree combines this lovely pink print with one of the light blues.

It was a gray afternoon today so difficult to show the true colors,

but I really do not think that Tilda Fabrics colors photograph well.

The colors are soft but they look a bit washed out here.

Tilda Fabrics are best enjoyed in hand.

I hope to add a little bit of every Tilda Collection that I have to this quilt.

I hope to someday make a small quilt with each of these collections

when I quilty muse decides I must sew them.

I have always loved this free pattern for Maple Farm:

Maybe someday.

It would be hard to find the fabrics now and they would be quite expensive,

but I could use what I have and add other fabrics from my stash.

Fabric Love and Free Pattern Friday

My Wordless Wednesday photo

showed my recent quilty indulgence purchase

of the Tilda Jubilee Fat Quarter Bundles.

I bought mine at Handcock of Paducah on pre-order

to add to my Tilda Collection.

The small print bundle has a print with a green background.

The main collection only has green in the leaf details.

As I love green, I went stash spelunking deep in my closet

and pulled out some of my older Tilda Collection gems.

These greens are from the Apple Butter Collection

and are a nice addition to the Jubilee colors, I think.

I love the way almost all Tilda Collections play well together.

Jubilee is their 25th Collection and Tilda is celebrating.

This lovely applique quilt is my favorite.

It is much too challenging for my skills at this time ...

maybe forever.

But I love to save the patterns and look.

The applique pillow might be within my possibility.

This pieced pillow is much more of a possibility for my capabilities.

My idea of a yummy oatmeal cookie has dried cranberries,

white chocolate chips and walnuts in them,

so I would add red to my cookie fabric.

I have not decided if I will sew along.

I have sew many projects.

I may have to bake Oatmeal Cookies this weekend, though.

Joy ~ Fabric Collecting & Free Pattern Friday

To Sew or Not To Sew?

This is always the question with my fabric treasures.

This part of my stash is, literally, "from the Vault"

in my fabric closets.

As a lover of fabric, I freely confess to having

my own carefully curated fabric collection.

This book has also been in my private quilt library for some time,

while I decide if I will ever be equal to the task.

I am wondering if I should choose a simpler, more doable project for me.

I am also wondering if I should even think about taking on another project

as I have so many "works in progress."

If I were to add one more to the endless list it would be this lovely free BOM ...

I am saving the quilt block patterns as I have to many projects in the works.

I love this design and hope to be sewing it soon.

I have been sitting and cross stitching this week

as I have accepted the challenge to complete

a project in October.

As I am a slow stitcher, I am giving myself a head start

so that I actually finish on time.

Today is another cool, rainy, gray day and I am enjoying the colorful threads.
