Here is my beautiful Memory Craft 6600p after her in home spa treatments.
My Nommi is purrrrring along ... <3
I am sew happy ... :-)
In March I took my Janome
to a Sewing Machine Service Day HERE
Then I just dropped off my machine at the quilt shop
and picked it up three days later.
While she was away, I felt like my right hand was missing.
Afterwards, I sent an email to
to thank him for his work.
As I use this machine daily, I am advised to have her serviced every six months.
Recently, I received this reminder message via email:

How wonderful!
After an email exchange, we set up an in home service visit for October 10th.
I also talked to my neighbor,
whom I knew had recently acquired an older sewing machine,
whom I knew had recently acquired an older sewing machine,
and I asked her if she wanted to join the Sewing Spa Day Party.
So she brought over her machine in its case.
Her machine is a vintage Singer 401a, circa 1957
My quilty kitty Nutmeg and I were very curious about this machine.
I had never seen one up close before.
It has a slant shaft presser foot ... very interesting!
For more info on this machine,
I surprised Anthony with a photo request for my blog readers
while he was working on my neighbor's machine in my dining room sewing space.
I was very impressed with the straight stitch quality and the speed
of this heavy duty machine.
I am really not in the market for another machine,
but if I ever see a used one of these at a good price anywhere,
I will add it to my sewing machine stable.
I love vintage sewing machines.

Last spring I used this machine as a back-up and found it to be a little sluggish.
When I used this last spring, I lamented not having the extended platform space
like my larger machine, so my hubby bought me a gift ...
this extension table from
It is only black plastic, but it matches my machine beautifully.
Tonight I decided to play with my Featherweight
to work on my Pumpkin Patch Quilt.
I am happy to say Minnie is humming happily along now.
Since I do not use this machine regularly, she will need to be serviced annually.

I think this is fantastic that you have tech that makes house calls! Lugging those heafty machines in for service sometimes requires two strong men. Wish we had that in our area.
Oh I have a whole house full of vintage machines. I will agree sometimes sewing on a featherweight it seems to sew so slow after sewing on the new machines. I think it is so neat that the tech will come to your home.
Gosh, a sewing machine repair specialist that makes house calls! How cool. I took my Viking in. They said they would all. They never did...I had to call them. $75 to clean and adjust. Seemed like a good price. However, it makes my little standby Brother disposable. I never run into used machine deals but I am going to keep a closer look out, lol.

how cool, I want someone to come to me here in Colorado also.. I'm envious and my pfaff man takes 3 friggin weeks to clean the machine. I told him the last time that I would not be back I was so unimpressed. I told him it was worth it to me if I was going to pay 200.00 to have it cleaned to just drive on over to Utah where it will cost me 70.00 to be cleaned and the bonus is that I get to stay with my sister... I thought it was pretty amazing that they could get away with charging 200.00 to clean it and then keep it for 3 weeks to boot. Then I found out from a guild member that they do it on purpose, the shop has some kind of service warranty that they sell for 600.00 for 2 years of service free maintenance. Ummm... what!!! I thought... 600.00... you gotta be kidding me. But you do get a guaranteed return time of 3 days also... Still.. what a ripoff... So.. last time I need serviced went to Utah to do it, now that sis has moved to Alaska, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do. Perhaps there's a Pfaff dealer in Wyoming... :)
