Thanks, Joanne, the lower shoulder might help. The proportions are off. I also do not like the pointed tail I may just go back to the original block which had a separate head piece and make the tail a little longer. Hmmm ... Pat
I think the pattern looks great as it is, and I like the pointed tail, because it's realistic. Dropping the shoulder? Maybe. I would have to see it, but I like the block even as it is right here.
I totally get your abstract vibe...and lots of sewists like a very easy pattern. I think you have a really cute pattern. If you really feel the need to change anything, maybe consider leaving a bit of space between the ears so the top of the cats head is flat between the ears. The ears would have to be a bit smaller to do this. Just a thought, but I like what you have done! The tail is fine.
Thanks, Mary, I am going for an abstract concept of my ginger colored kitty. Nutmeg has large, forward turned ears, a long quirky tail and perches on her back paws with her tail up sometimes. Lots of catitude. I think I just named my block!

Maybe make the ears shorter and the shoulder point lower so that there is more definition to the head?

I would put some of your background fabric to the tail side...as it is, you will lose most of the tail in the seam allowance. Going to be cute!!
Going back and looking again...what about small triangles of background fabric where the head and body meet...it would provide definition to the head.

I am considering this ... :)
Thank you, Susan :)
